One of the most common issues I’ve run into over my years dashing is this: you’ve already dropped off the food, but the app will not let you complete the delivery. It’s stuck.
It keeps showing that you’re still on the delivery step, even though the food is already on the customer’s porch or in their hands.
Frustrating, right?
Why This Happens
This usually boils down to one of two things:
App Glitch. Sometimes the Dasher app bugs out. You click “Delivered,” or try to upload the photo, but nothing happens. It hangs or freezes.
Poor Connection at Drop-off Location. I’ve had times where I was in an apartment complex with bad reception, and the app could not update my status because there was no data signal.
Whatever the reason, the solution is simple. Call Doordash Dasher Support.
My Go-To Steps When This Happens
Here’s exactly what I do when I’ve dropped off the food but the app will not let me complete the delivery:
- Try Basic Troubleshooting First
Before calling support, I try:
• Force closing the app and reopening it
• Refreshing my phone’s connection by turning airplane mode on and off
• If I’m in a bad signal area, I move to a better spot if possible
If none of that works, then it’s time to reach out.
- Call Dasher Support
Once I call support through the app or their phone number, they usually ask a few standard questions:
• Did you already drop off the order?
• Did the customer receive it?
• Was a photo uploaded for “leave at door” orders?
They will also sometimes try to call the customer to confirm everything. I have never had an issue here because the customer usually confirms right away.
- Support Completes the Order for You
Once they confirm, support will manually update the order as completed in their system. After a quick refresh of the app, sometimes I close and reopen it again, I see the delivery marked as complete and I am ready to move on to the next one.
Bottom Line
It might feel annoying when this happens, especially if you are trying to stay on schedule or maximize your earnings. Do not panic. It is a common issue, and support has always helped me resolve it quickly.
A tip from me: do not try to force anything in the app when it is not responding. Tapping buttons repeatedly will not fix it. Save your time, call support, and let them handle it.
We are all going to run into app hiccups while dashing.
The key is knowing how to handle them quickly and calmly so you can keep moving and keep earning.
